RadioShack tries to pay off creditors by auctioning customer data

Posted online
As part of a bankruptcy auction process, Fort Worth, Texas-based RadioShack Corp. will put the personally identifiable information of 117 million customers on the auction block today.

Attorneys general in several states including Texas’ Ken Paxton, have filed objections to the auction, saying that it violates promises the electronics retailer made prior to filing for bankruptcy.

The information in the auction includes customer names, phone numbers, mailing and email addresses and purchase history, according to CNNMoney.

In other news, RadioShack plans to close 1,784 locations by the end of the month.
