RadioShack could sell half its stores to Sprint, close the rest

Posted online
RadioShack Corp. is preparing to shut down the almost-century-old retail chain in a bankruptcy deal that would sell about half its store leases to Sprint Corp. and close the rest, people with knowledge of the discussions told Bloomberg.

Because the locations sold to Sprint would operate under the wireless carrier's name, RadioShack would cease to exist as a stand-alone retailer, according to the report.

It's also possible Sprint and RadioShack could co-brand the stores or a buyer may emerge to keep RadioShack afloat.
