Quest Diagnostics Inc. is giving the Kansas City area a shot in the arm with plans to hire 500 people in the next year at its new Lenexa facility.
The Kansas City Business Journal reports most jobs are in customer service for the diagnostic information services company, which already employs 2,000 in Lenexa.
Its planned Quest Diagnostics National Operations Center is designed to serve the company's U.S. health care clients, which receive information ranging from advanced genetic tests for cancer and rare disorders to routine cholesterol and diabetes checks.
Quest entered the Lenexa market in 2005 via a $934 million acquisition of LabOne Inc., the business journal reports.
