Queen City hotel room sales, flight traffic up

The Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau’s latest data on hotel and airport statistics show both areas improving over last year.

Lodging market
Springfield room sales in September totaled $7.8 million, a 7.1 percent increase over the same month in 2013.

Through September, year-to-date sales were $70.8 million, up 8.4 percent compared to the same time period a year earlier, according to the CVB.

In September, the occupancy rate for local lodging facilities was 59.3 percent, up from 57.2 percent a year earlier. The improvement brings the year-to-date occupancy rate to 61.9 percent through September, compared to 55.9 percent at the same time a year ago.

Room supply, however, is down from last year. Through September, supply was 1.5 million, compared to 1.6 million a year earlier, the CVB reports.

SGF movement
During October, 73,002 people went through Springfield-Branson National Airport, a 9.2 percent increase over the same month in 2013.

The CVB reports enplanements and deplanements have increased year-to-year during each month of 2014.

Through October, total traffic increased 12 percent to 709,680, according to the CVB.[[In-content Ad]]
