Quapaw Tribe seeks dismissal of lawsuit over casino plans

The Quapaw Tribe wants a federal court to toss out the lawsuit Kansas filed seeking to block the tribe from expanding its Downstream Casino in Oklahoma into southeast Kansas.

Citing tribal sovereign immunity, the Monday filing claims the tribe has followed federal law in plans to build a $15 million addition offering table games not allowed in Oklahoma, according to The Associated Press.

The Kansas attorney general's office maintains it will staunchly oppose the tribe's request for dismissal.
