Pure-Flo's jobless to get state help

Posted online
Missouri’s Rapid Reponse Team will meet later this month with 118 Pure-Flo Precision employees who will find themselves jobless at the end of the year.

The team, part of Missouri’s Department of Economic Development, will conduct job assistance meetings at 9:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 17 and at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Oct. 18 at 3300 Pythian St. in Springfield.

Representatives from DED’s Division of Workforce Development, the Division of Employment Security, the Ozark Region Workforce Investment Board and the city of Springfield Workforce Development office make up the team.

Pure-Flo, a stainless steel manufacturer in Springfield, is closing, citing overall economic weakness, increased competition and excess industry capacity. The company makes hygienic vessels and components for the biopharmaceutical market.

Dislocated workers will receive immediate assistance in assessment and testing, career counseling, resume writing, interviewing skills, job search methods, on-the-job training and tuition assistance.

Affected workers can contact the team for assistance at 1-800-877-8698.

More than 100,000 workers have participated in the programs since it was established in 1983.
