Christian County's News Journal Publisher Brett Adams said that starting April 21, he will unveil a new magazine RPM Motor Sports Monthly covering drag racing, motocross and circle track throughout southwest Missouri.|ret||ret||tab|
Adams has been thinking about starting the magazine for 2 1/2 years.|ret||ret||tab|
"(It's) a market that has not been tapped in this area and we have so many dedicated racers and people who enjoy going to races who do not get the coverage," Adams said. "There are only so many times you can look on Page 2 of the News-Leader and find out who won what race. There is not an outlet for the local guy who runs his 1966 Nova out at Ozark International Raceway. He doesn't get his picture in the paper if he wins a race; that's what we are going to try to do."|ret||ret||tab|
The publication will be a 16- to 20-page tabloid-size magazine on newsprint, Adams said. He added that in the future he would like to have a glossy publication, but for now the main goal is to be cost-effective. The publication will cost about $2.|ret||ret||tab|
Many staff members from Christian County's News Journal will help out with the newspaper, but Adams said the publications are completely separate endeavors.|ret||ret||tab|
RPM will be sold at tracks, convenience stores and, Adams hopes, auto part stores in southwest Missouri.|ret||ret||tab|
