Public invited to comment on ice-storm response

Posted online
The public’s last chance to speak directly to city and county officials about emergency response during January’s ice storm is at an input session this afternoon.

The Disaster Response Action Committee will hold its final public-input session at 4:30 p.m. today at the Library Station, 2535 N. Kansas Expressway. The meeting is part of the committee’s review of the government and nonprofit sectors’ emergency response and recovery actions during and after the ice storm.

An open house will begin at 4:30 p.m. Citizens are invited to speak to staff members of the Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management, the city Public Works department, City Utilities, Springfield Public Schools, the Greene County Highway department and the Springfield-Greene County Health Department.

Formal public comments will be taken beginning at 5 p.m.

An online survey regarding local disaster response can be submitted through the end of the month; it is available at www.springfieldmogov.org. The public also may contact the committee by e-mail at drac@ci.springfield.mo.us, or by mail to PO Box 8368, Springfield, MO, 65801, Attention: Public Information Department.

The committee expects to complete its report in July.
