Public input sought for Police Department accreditation

Posted online
Members of the public are invited to comment on the policies, procedures and operations of the Springfield Police Department at a public information session tonight.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the department’s South District Station, 2620 W. Battlefield Road.

The session is part of the department’s efforts to achieve accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. The accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in policy and procedures, administration, operations and support services.

Comments on the department also will be taken 2–4 p.m. today; to comment, call (417) 864-4147. Telephone and in-person comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the department’s ability to comply with the commission’s standards.

A copy of the commission’s standards is available at the department’s Battlefield station and at its headquarters, 321 E. Chestnut Expressway.[[In-content Ad]]
