Proxy firm Institutional Shareholder Services is seeking former professional basketball player Shaquille O’Neal's ouster from the board of Papa John's.
ISS is encouraging shareholders to vote against O’Neal’s re-election to the board at the April 23 shareholders meeting. Officials with the proxy firm pointed to O'Neal attending fewer than 75% of meetings in his first term as a board member.
Last year, Papa John's signed O'Neal as a brand ambassador in a deal that included nine franchises and a board seat.
