ProTel Systems & Supplies is expanding. The company is moving in to its new 17,600-square-foot technology center at 2929 N. Eastgate.
The building will allow ProTel to add 100 to 120 new jobs to Springfield over the next one to two years, a release from the company stated. The building will have both fiber-optic and copper connections to the telephone network, and will be a showplace for the technology ProTel offers its customers, the release said.
ProTel offers installation of Toshiba and Harris telephone systems, local and long-distance service through Southwestern Bell and high-speed certified data and voice cabling networks. The company also provides security, alarm systems, AT&T wireless products and has been locally owned and operated since 1982.
"The communication industry is now a mixture of telephony and computer services, and ProTel's new building will help us provide and demonstrate these new technological advances in Springfield. Everyone at ProTel is looking forward to the new location, designed from the ground up to meet ProTel's corporate needs and objectives," said Steve Thompson, owner of ProTel, in the release.
Expansion will include growth in the telecommunications industry, computer equipment sales, as well as managerial and marketing positions, the release stated.
