Proposed federal rule would protect workers from heat

A new proposed rule from the Biden administration would protect workers from heat-related illness.

The rule would require employers to monitor workers’ heat exposure, provide cool-down areas and implement mandatory cool-down breaks, depending on the heat index, the Missouri Independent reports.

The rule is expected to cover some 35 million workers.
