Missouri lawmakers are slated to consider an increase to the state's gas tax during the upcoming legislative session.
Sen. Dave Schatz, R-Sullivan, prefiled a bill that calls on five years of 2-cent gas tax increases. The proposal calls on the hikes to start Jan. 1, 2022.
Missouri's gas tax has not been increased since 1996.
