The United States could default between Aug. 15 and Oct. 3, according to a new projection from the Bipartisan Policy Center, a centrist Washington, D.C., think tank.
The so-called X-date would be reached if Congress does not raise or suspend the debt limit before then. The Bipartisan Policy Center previously projected the X-date could hit as soon as July.
The House and Senate are scheduled to be in recess Aug. 4-Sept. 2.
