Slone Architects Inc., in association with Bass Pro Design & Development, was the architect for this 8,900-square-foot development for project owner Bluegreen/ Big Cedar Vacations LLC. The general contractor was Bass Pro Construction Management. The structural engineer was Edelman Engineering, and the mechanical engineer was Quantum Group Consulting Engineers. Ownby Associates Landscape Architects/ Planners was the landscape architect, and Precision Pools was the pool contractor. The estimated construction cost was not available for the project, which was completed in June 2002. The park, which includes a fitness center, natatorium, snack bar, video arcade and lounge, was financed by Bluegreen Corp. Interior and exterior structural supports are massive concrete columns site-cast in tree-trunk molds. The water park features more than 800 linear feet of Lazy River, a man-made stream designed to carry visitors on inflated tubes through a garden of colorful native vegetation and a grotto hidden by a waterfall. The feature serves guests of the Big Cedar Wilderness Club.
