Smith Consulting Engineers was the structural engineer. Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins Inc. was the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer for the project, which had an estimated construction cost of $2.28 million. The facility includes a new sanctuary, administrative offices, a reception hall with a commercial kitchen, a library, study rooms, meeting rooms and student recreation areas. There also is an apartment for the building caretaker and two guest rooms. The project combined three different construction types Glu-lam wood post-and-beam construction, steel post-and-beam with bar joists, and metal stud with pre-fabricated trusses. The majority of the roof is pitched architectural composite shingle. The project posed a number of challenges, including five diverse use groups and the three different construction types melded to create a single distinct entity.
