Dickerson Park Zoo is expanding to accommodate a new world region of animals and renovating many existing facilities. The centerpiece of the new Asia region will be the elephant exhibit, where visitors can watch the animals bathe in the 40,000-gallon elephant pool. Visitors also will encounter gibbons and tigers, and expanded Ozarks exhibits with wolves, mountain lions and a new home for the deer and turkey exhibit. Other additions include a new hoof stock barn, a new colobus and vervet monkey exhibit, a new quarantine building, giraffe barn renovations, animal hospital renovations, new restroom facilities and a maintenance building expansion. Phase I is slated for completion this summer; total project completion is scheduled for spring 2004.|ret||ret||tab|
