Mark Wolthuis of Gaskin Hill Norcross was the project engineer for this combination police and fire station owned by the city of Springfield. The facility was completed in September 2002. Branco Enterprises was the contractor for the project, which had an estimated construction cost of $4.5 million. This facility replaces the existing Fire Station No. 6 and combines it with a new south-side police station. The size of the entire facility is approximately 45,000 square feet, which includes the adaptive re-use of the existing 7,000-square-foot AutoZone building on the site and 14,000 square feet of basement storage and shell space for the Police Department. Engineering work included HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems and emergency generator power system, and a fuel station for Police Department and Fire Department vehicles.|ret||ret||tab|
