The elementary wing of the new Hickory Hills K-8 school should be ready for final cleaning and inspection by press time, according to Randy Ganz, senior vice president of general contractor DeWitt & Associates. Inclement weather has pushed the school's completion date back to Jan. 1, although workers have finished most of the outside work and are moving indoors. The school, which is designed to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-Silver certification, is being built with renewable construction materials and will have energy-efficient heating and cooling systems and photo-cell lighting. Students are expected to move into the 124,000-square-foot building in January, Ganz said.
