St. Joseph Catholic Church is adding a 9,500-square-foot parish hall that will double as a gymnasium for the parish's school. The hall will have a commercial kitchen, education space and a chapel with stained glass made by parishioners. Also included will be concrete blocks that have been held in storage since the church's original construction in 1905-06. Those blocks measure 2 feet wide, 1 foot deep and 1.5 feet tall and were hand-cast on the church grounds, according to previous SBJ coverage, which states an estimated completion date of April. Church officials have said financial reserves, donations and at least $750,000 from parishioners will fund the project.
