The steel structure and roof of Drury University's O'Reilly Family Event Center are nearing completion, and crews hope to have the building enclosed by the second week of December, according to Bill Killian, owner of general contractor Killian Construction Co. Project Manager Matt Breland said work also is beginning on the arena's interior, where crews are set to pour concrete for the seating area. Contributions and private donations, including $6 million from Springfield's O'Reilly family and $600,000 from the Pitt family, are funding the project. Due to the Pitts' gift, which specifically covers upgrades to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-Gold standards, the arena's basketball court will be named the William A. Pitt Court. The facility also will include space for training and rehabilitation. Completion is slated for September 2010.[[In-content Ad]]
