Project Profile: Cycles Unlimited

Green Gate LLC is the general contractor for the 5,000-square-foot structure that will house Cycles Unlimited. Ashley Burchfield, who established Bicicleta LLC in 2005 for the building’s development, is shooting for an Aug. 1 opening date for his shop, which has been at 1254 E. Republic Road for eight years. Burns & Associates Architecture is the architect for the project. Allen Moore, PE, of Joplin is the engineer. The structure, which has an estimated cost of $700,000, will be at least 30 percent more energy-efficient than a standard building, and Burchfield intends to achieve Leadership In Energy and Environmental Design certification. Green efforts include the recycling of construction waste and use of natural light and collected rainwater. Burchfield received help on the project from Environmental Market Solutions Inc., an international green-building consulting firm that has offices in Springfield, Washington, D.C., and Beijing and Shanghai, China.
