Profit climbs at A-B InBev

Anheuser-Busch InBev reported a jump in profit in the first quarter even as beer sales in the United States declined.

Profit attributable to equity holders improved to $2.3 billion from $1.4 billion a year earlier. Revenue, however, dropped slightly to $10.5 billion from $10.6 billion, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

Total volumes decreased by 1.2 percent during the quarter, driven by a 6 percent drop in sales to U.S. wholesalers.
