Private airport is the runway to Branson's future

The Kansas City Star sends a reporter and photographer to Branson to cover the relationship between the city's tourism base and the privately owned and operated Branson Airport.

Donald Bradley reports that city officials expect Branson to remain a “rubber tire” destination, but acknowledge, too, that the airport could over time shake up Branson demographics, which tend to lean Midwestern and senior.

According to Branson Airport Executive Director Jeff Bourk, an economic impact study to be released by the state of Missouri will say the airport has generated $90 million in new revenue for the area and created 1,500 jobs.
