Low, the president of Prime Inc., was among 10 winners announced during a June 5 gala in Kansas City, Kan. An independent panel of judges selected the group of CEOs, private capital investors and other regional business leaders.
Joining Low in the honor were David Karandish, CEO of Answers in St. Louis; Len Rodman, chairman, president and CEO of Black & Veatch in Overland Park, Kan.; Steve Carter, president of Knight Hawk Coal LLC in Percy, Ill.; Kyle Krause, owner, president and CEO of Kum & Go LC in West Des Moines, Iowa; Larry Potterfield, CEO of MidwayUSA in Columbia; Harry Herington, CEO and chairman of the board of NIC Inc. in Olathe, Kan.; Jeff Stroburg and Daniel Oh, chairman, and president/CEO, respectively, of Renewable Energy Group in Ames, Iowa; David Faber, president of Trans Ova Genetics in Sioux Center, Iowa; and Brant and Brock Bukowsky, co-founders of Veterans United Home Loans in Columbia.
The regional Entrepreneur of the Year winners are candidates for the national competition in November, the release said. Honorees demonstrate success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities, according to the release.
Other Springfield-area businessmen to be recognized by the Ernst & Young award, now in its 26th year, are Bob Noble of Noble Communications, a 2001 regional Entrepreneur of the Year, and Bill Darr of American Dehydrated Foods, a 1992 Master Entrepreneur for the Kansas/Western Missouri Region.
