Priceline to buy restaurant booking service for $2.6B

Priceline Group Inc. agreed to buy restaurant booking service OpenTable Inc.  for $2.6 billion in cash, broadening the online travel giant's offering into a new field at a time when some of its more established brands mature.

"The kind of work that we do day-to-day is very similar," Priceline CEO Darren Huston said. "It's just a different marketplace."

According to the Wall Street Journal, OpenTable has an inventory of over 31,000 establishments.
