The Price Cutter Charity Championship, a Nationwide Tour event, raised a record $782,067 for 43 local children’s charities last year, Price Cutter’s 10th year as title sponsor.
Organizers said Price Cutter’s five-year extension ensures the Springfield tournament will remain on the Nationwide Tour. This year’s tournament is scheduled Aug. 9–12 at Highland Springs Country Club, according to a news release. PGA Tour players will compete for a $625,000 purse, with the champion taking home $112,500.
"The Price Cutter Charity Championship sets a standard in professional golf for excellence in its community and charitable accomplishments," said Nationwide Tour President Bill Calfee, in the release. "The most important aspect of today's announcement that Price Cutter will be returning for five years is the (PCCC) will continue to generate significant dollars for worthy children's organizations in Springfield and the Ozarks."
The tournament has raised $9.2 million during its 22-year history in Springfield, and organizers say the local event historically ranks among the top-five fundraising events on the tour.
New lead sponsors this year are Convoy of Hope and The Hamels Foundation, the release said, and new charities on board include The Summit Preparatory School, Chances of Stone County and St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy.
