Power company Southern California Edison is investigating whether its electrical equipment caused the Silverado fire that broke out on Monday.
Edison officials said in a filing with the Public Utilities Commission that a “lashing wire” attached to a third-party telecommunications line may have struck a primary conductor and caused the fire to start.
The fire has burned thousands of acres in Irvine, California, causing tens of thousands of people to flee their homes.
