The city of Springfield today announced that Magers Management Co. of Springfield has declined to continue in the selection process. Magers was one of four developers who responded to a request for qualifications in September.
“It was just a business decision that we made; we thought we would funnel our efforts and energies into some other projects,” said Randy Magers, who declined to disclose what his company is currently working on.
Magers added that he enjoyed working with the city during the selection process.
The developers were asked to confirm by 3 p.m. today that they remained interested in the project. The selection process was put on hold while the ownership of the Heer’s building was transferred from Vaughn Prost – one of the remaining developers in the running – to the city.
Prost, with his company Springfield Office Building LLC, is from Jefferson City. The other developers interested in the project are McGowan|Walsh of St. Louis and Restoration St. Louis.
Qualifications of the remaining three developers will be reviewed, and the city will invite them to respond to a request for proposal to get specifics about their plans for the building.
Also today, Prost submitted additional information on the Heer’s project. He has indicated that he will partner with Robert Wood, a St. Louis developer from Robert Wood Realty, on the project. The two are developing the Adler Lofts in St. Louis.
