A ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Nixa Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. July 18 at the new branch.
Postal Federal has $100 million in assets and more than 17,000 members, with four branches in Springfield, two locations in Joplin and one in Branson.
The new branch will have five employees, said Jill Bishop, director of marketing and business development.
“There’s just a growing population there, and we’ve had a lot of requests” for a Nixa branch, Bishop said. “Nixa is just a really growing area.”
Postal Federal purchased its Nixa location, which Bishop said previously housed a bank, and later, an insurance office, but she did not know the details of the transaction or specifics about the building’s former tenants.
Postal Federal membership is open to select employee groups and to anyone who lives or works in Greene, Christian, Stone, Taney, Newton, Jasper, Lawrence, Polk, Webster or Howell counties.
Postal Federal merged with Central Ozarks Credit Union in Joplin in April. According to Springfield Business Journal’s 2007 Book of Lists, Postal Federal is the largest credit union in the Springfield area.
