Post Holdings' potential egg supplier accused of false advertising

An Illinois egg supplier Post Holdings is in the process of buying has been accused of false advertising.

The Humane Society of the United States filed a complaint Friday with the Federal Trade Commission saying National Pasteurized Eggs' logo for Davidson's Safest Choice eggs is misleading because it depicts an idyllic scene with an expansive green pasture, a red barn in the distance and a few white chickens.

"No reasonable consumer would see the verdant imagery and 'all-natural' claims and think of a complex of factory farms owned by National Pasteurized Eggs, a geographically widespread egg-producing corporation, where hens are confined in cramped, filthy cages and never see the light of day," the complaint reads.
