Cereal maker Post Holdings Inc. recently held talks to combine with ConAgra Foods Inc.’s frozen-potato business, people familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.
The combination with ConAgra's potato business, known as Lamb Weston, would be one of the largest consumer-industry mergers in recent history.
The sources said talks have stalled but may come back.
ConAgra is busy spinning off Lamb Weston, a move it announced late last year.
