One of the oldest banks in southwest Missouri began its 128th year in business by launching a branch in Springfield. Polk County Bank, with headquarters in Bolivar, opened its Springfield branch Jan. 3 at 3050 S. National, Ste. 100, in the Montclair Center with a branch of Mid-Missouri Mortgage Company. |ret||ret||tab|
"We've had tremendous growth in our bank in the last few years, and there are lots of people who bank with us in Bolivar who work in Springfield. This gives them the convenience of a bank in Springfield," President and Chief Executive Officer Dave Strader said. "There are also many former residents of Bolivar who have moved to Springfield to attend one of the universities or work, and this gives us a way to continue to serve them." |ret||ret||tab|

Mid-Missouri Mortgage Company opened its main office at 1505 E. Bradford Pkwy., Ste. B July 1, 1999, after being formed by Mid-Missouri BancShares Inc. chairman Lee Gilbert. Mid-Missouri BancShares, based in Nevada, is the holding company for Polk County Bank, Mid-Missouri Mortgage Company and a few other area banks, including Tri-County State Bank in El Dorado Springs.|ret||ret||tab|
Polk County Bank will get referrals from Mid-Missouri Mortgage on loans the mortgage firm does not underwrite construction loans, for example Strader said.|ret||ret||tab|
Terry Ikerd is the vice president of the Springfield branch of Polk County Bank. Ikerd spent nine years as a real estate appraiser and mortgage lender for Bank of America, and its predecessors, before joining Polk County Bank to open the Springfield location.|ret||ret||tab|
"We hope in two to three years to grow this new bank enough to be able to move into a free-standing facility," Ikerd said. The branch does not have an ATM on site, but the bank is part of the InstaKey network, which includes Wood & Huston Bank and State Bank of Southwest Missouri. |ret||ret||tab|
Polk County Bank was opened in a storeroom in Bolivar in 1872 by T.H.B Dunnegan with capital of $10,000. The location of its main bank on the square in Bolivar was built in 1892. Polk County Bank reported assets of approximately $108.9 million in September 1999 and deposits of approximately $95.8 million.|ret||ret||tab|
