At about noon Thursday, police responded to an incident at Sport Clips, 2725 N. Kansas Expressway, according to Police Public Information Officer Grant Story. The man, identified as Timothy Connor, 37, fled before police arrived but was found shortly after at a bus stop near 2500 N. Kansas Expressway. He was arrested for stealing by deceit, a misdemeanor.
Connor also is wanted by Arizona authorities for fraud, Story said.
Earlier this week, a similar incident at Ted E. Bear’s Toy Factory prompted BBBS to send out a notice to the community, warning of the collection scam. Since then, Story said the department received several calls from businesses where similar incidents occurred.
“Right now we haven’t determined for sure that (Connor) was involved in these other incidents; however the connection is very strong, obviously,” Story said.
