Hugh Hefner, who founded Playboy and made the magazine a national icon, died Wednesday. He was 91.
Magazine officials annoounced he "peacefully passed away today from natural causes at his home, The Playboy Mansion, surrounded by loved ones."
The magazine became known for its nude centerfolds, as well as its articles featuring interviews with the likes of Fidel Castro, Miles Davis and Malcolm X.
