Plans for a sprawling mixed-use development that includes single-family homes, upscale apartments, retail outlets and two to three hotels all anchored by a youth sports village have been filed for a site along Missouri Highway 150 in Grandview.
In all, the yet-to-be-named project is estimated to cost $260 million to $300 million. Details of the plans are slated to be revealed during a public announcement in Grandview on Friday. The Grandview mayor said a development partnership has acquired the site from Rausch Coleman Homes, which had been developing a 700-home community on 272 acres, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.
At the center of the project will be its sports village, which will include 15 to 20 soccer fields and a field house with courts for basketball, volleyball and futsal – a variant of soccer played with fewer players on hard surfaces. Developers are expected to seek tax-increment financing for the project, KCBJ reports.
