Plan for Scalia School Of Law tweaked over unfortunate acronym

Posted online
George Mason University put the brakes on the Antonin Scalia School of Law after some social media acronym controversy.

Originally abbreviated ASSOL or ASS Law, the school has tweaked the name to be the Antonin Scalia Law School in honor of the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice, according to NPR.

The acronym controversy started on Twitter with the hashtag #ASSLaw.

"Under the terms of the anonymous gift, we are authorized to use a variety of different names,” law school dean Henry Butler acknowledged in a campuswide letter. "The Antonin Scalia Law School is a logical substitute."
