Pizza Hut, Papa John's slash prices

To start 2016, Pizza Hut and Papa John's are offering low-priced deals for their pizza.

Pizza Hut, the world's largest pizza chain, is offering a medium pizza with one topping for $5 as long as another item is purchased for $5. That could be breadsticks, soft drinks, wings or a second pizza.

If customers buy a large pizza at regular price at Papa John's, they can get a second for 50 cents.

The Pizza Hut deal is similar to one at Domino's, where customers have been able to get a $5.99 pizza in some form since 2010.
