Pittsburg State University in Kansas won $150,000 worth of grant funds.
The university's Kansas Polymer Research Center is slated to use the funds to research the production of polymers from soybean oil.
"Soybeans are a major crop in this area, and it provides the farmers with opportunities to expand the demand for their products," said Tim Dawsey, executive director of the center.
