Pittsburg State moves to hike tuition 5%

Posted online
Students attending Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan., in the fall might have to dig deeper into their pockets than those who went to classes this school year, according to the Joplin Regional Business Journal.

The university proposed a 4.8 percent increase in tuition on May 14 to the Kansas Board of Regents. That would hike the price of school for a full-time undergraduate student paying in-state rates by $113 per semester to $2,468.

While the state budget for higher education is expected to remain roughly flat, the proposed tuition hike – the smallest in 14 years – would cover pay increases for faculty and benefit changes.
