Pipe ruptures, spewing oil in Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Fire Department said Thursday morning that it was working to contain about 50,000 gallons of oil leaking from a ruptured pipe in the Atwater Village section of the city.

According to the New York Times, the oil was knee high at some spots and spread over a half-mile industrial park area in the eastern part of the city.
