Photos could replace passwords

Posted online
It's been said that a picture's worth a thousand words. Now, thanks to a new security app, a picture is also worth a really long, virtually unhackable password.

CNNMoney reports Australian teen Sam Crowther has created an app that allows you to choose a photo on your electronic device and use it as your "password." The app transmits the picture as a password that is 512 characters long.

The report states that using a photo-turned-coded password would stymie a thief who won't know which picture of the probably dozens on your device was used as the password. Malware is also thwarted from figuring out the chosen photo because the position of your photos changes. Resetting the password is as simple as choosing a different photo.

No word on when the app will be widely available but the report does state that Crowther, 18, has decided to skip college for now to focus on the startup.
