Project description: A community institution for more than a century, the Ward Downtown YMCA is being renovated into a new branch for Rolla-based Phelps County Bank. The 42,000-square-foot project includes restoration of the original 1913 structure and a new west addition to provide customer service spaces while celebrating the architecture of the landmark downtown Springfield building. Significant spaces include a restored lobby, contemporary banking atrium and a multipurpose room overlooking Walnut Street.
