Pharmaceutical giant rocked by ransomware attack

U.S. pharmaceutical giant Merck was among dozens of businesses hit yesterday by a large cyberattack.

Merck confirmed its “its network was part of a global hack" but did not detail the extent of the damage.

The attack is said to be similar to a ransomware strike last month that deployed a virus dubbed WannaCry.
