An online petition is seeking the removal of a Confederate statue in Springfield National Cemetery.
Built in 1901, the statue honors Gen. Sterling Price, an officer who led the Confederates in the Battle of Wilson Creek in Springfield.
The petition started by Springfield resident Jared Cantrell was 28 votes short of its 2,500-signature goal as of 7:52 a.m.
