PepsiCo beats second-quarter estimates

PepsiCo Inc. reported better-than-expected quarterly profit and sales for the second quarter.

According to Reuters, the company's net income was $1.98 billion, or $1.33 per share, for the quarter ended June 13, compared to $1.98 billion, or $1.29 per share, a year earlier.

Revenue fell 5.7 percent to $15.9 billion.

Analysts on an average had expected earnings of $1.24 per share and revenue of $15.8 billion.
