David E. Kindel has accepted the position of chief operating officer at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin. Kindel, who assumed the post in September, oversees the ongoing, day-to-day operations of the medical center. Kindel has more than 10 years' experience in administrative positions, most recently with Southwest Medical.

Marshall Elwood Smith accepted the position of executive director of oncology services at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin. Smith's responsibilities will include providing administrative, clinical and business leadership for oncology services. Formerly administrator of Cancer Services at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, S.C., Smith assumed his new post in September.
