Rick B. Gutman has joined Commerce Bank, Springfield Region, as senior vice president and manager of its Investment Management Group. Gutman is a 1981 graduate of Drake University in Iowa with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He has more than 17 years' experience in trust and investment planning, most recently serving as vice president and trust investment officer for Commerce Bank in Wichita, Kan. Gutman is a certified financial planner, a member of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners, and a candidate for the chartered financial planner designation. He will be located at Commerce Bank, 1345 E. Battlefield.

Baird, Kurtz & Dobson, certified public accountants, has announced the Feb. 1 promotions of Stephanie R. Clark, Angela L. English and Jake M. McWay, from senior accountants to supervisors. Clark, English and McWay are all 1994 graduates of SMSU with degrees in accounting.

Clark is a member of the hospitals and medical practices team. She provides auditing, Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement consulting and cost-preparation services for hospitals.

English works with long-term care facilities, providing Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement consulting, in addition to auditing, and cost-report preparation.

McWay serves as a member of the firm's hospitals and medical practices team. In addition to Medicare/Medicaid cost-report preparations for hospitals, he provides auditing and third-party reimbursement consulting.

In addition, Baird, Kurtz & Dobson has announced the Feb. 1 promotions of Michael S. Hill and L. Jamie McDonald from staff accountants to senior accountants.

Hill is a 1993 graduate of SMSU, and received his MBA from SMSU in 1997. He provides auditing and consulting for financial institutions.

McDonald is a 1996 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in accounting. He provides tax services, including the preparation of income tax returns, for individuals and businesses.
