Corey W. Elliot is a 1999 graduate of Southwest Baptist University with a bachelor of science degree in accounting.
David C. Fields is a 1999 graduate of Southwest Baptist University with a bachelor of science degee in accounting.
Paula J. Russell is a 1999 graduate of SMSU with a bachelor of science degree in accounting.
Chad S. Scherr is a 1999 graduate of SMSU with a bachelor of science degree in accounting.
Craig R. Woycheese is a 1999 graduate of Drury College with a bachelor of arts degree in business and accounting.
Melissa Davis has been promoted to financial services manager at the new Commerce Bank SMSU Banking Center, located in Plaster Student Union. Davis is responsible for managing retail sales and customer service. She has four years of banking experience and, prior to her promotion, was a financial services representative at Commerce's Battlefield location.
Shelley Evans has joined the team at Signature Bank as senior vice president of commercial loans. She has more than 11 years of experience in the banking industry. She received her master's degree from SMSU.
Cathy J. Miller has been promoted to branch manager of Commerce Bank's Republic Road branch. She is responsible for managing retail sales and customer service at the branch. Miller has a bachelor of science degree in business administration and accounting from Hastings College in Hastings, Neb. She has 10 years of experience in banking.
Richard A. Bertelsen Jr., MD, is now taking patients at the old Pomme De Terre Med-Surg Clinic in Bolivar. Bertelsen graduated from Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. He received residency training at the University of Florida Health Science Center in Jacksonville, Fla. He had a private practice in Seguin, Texas. His specialty is internal medicine with an interest in cardiology.
Susan Kump has joined the staff of Excel Manufacturing Group as the marketing assistant. She has more than 11 years of experience in marketing and public relations.
Tom Mast has joined Wannenmacher Advertising Company as media services director. He will facilitate television and radio work for the agency. He has more than 23 years of experience in the Springfield television market.
Ray Michaels has recently been hired as program director for Radio 2000's two stations, KHTO Hot 106.7 and KZRQ Channel Z 104.1. Michaels was promoted from program director of KHTO. He has been a Radio 2000 employee since 1995.
Jay Phillips has been hired as operations manager for Journal Broadcast Group, Springfield operations. Phillips has country music programming experience. He joins KTTS AM, KTTS FM and MAX 96.5.
Karen Warner has been named to the newly created position of regional controller for the Journal Broadcast Group's Springfield, Tulsa and Wichita operations. Warner is based in Wichita and will work directly with the general managers and business managers at each of the operations. She has worked in the industry for more than 14 years. She is a CPA and has a bachelor's degree in business administration.
Dwayne L. Hart joined UtiliCorp United Sept. 1 as senior vice president and chief financial officer. He is responsible for all treasury and accounting functions and finance activity. Hart was previously vice president and controller of Enron Capital & Trade Resources Corp. He received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Texas A&M University.
