Makesha C. Brown and Shelley A. Peeper have joined the Springfield office of Baird, Kurtz & Dobson, CPAs, as staff accountants. They will assist with general tax, audit and accounting. Both Brown and Peeper are 1999 graduates of SMSU with bachelor of science degrees in accounting. They both participated in BKD's internship program.
Communications
Perkin Marketing Services Inc. has announced several promotions.
Carol Bullard has been promoted to account executive. She has more than nine years of experience in overseeing the agency's print production area, event coordination and public relations coordination. She is also a food stylist. Bullard has a bachelor of science degree in communications from Evangel University.
Olivia Ferrell has been promoted from vice president of operations to executive vice president and general manager for Perkin Marketing. She has experience in advertising, printing, radio and public relations. Ferrell was first hired at Perkin Marketing in 1991.
Bill Perkin, owner of Perkin Marketing, has moved to the position of chairman of the board and will assist an agency client to increase its new business.
Andrea Mc-Gehee has been promoted from bookkeeper to account executive at Perkin Marketing. She has experience in banking and previously worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. McGehee received a bachelor's degree in business administration and management from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Teresa Schwab has been named account services manager for Perkin Marketing. She is responsible for overseeing all account services for the firm. She worked as a media representative for local TV stations and was a national account executive. Schwab received a bachelor of science degree in finance and general business with a minor in marketing from SMSU.
Education
Dr. Gordon Dutile, acting provost and senior professor of Bible at Southwest Baptist University, has been named SBU's senior provost. As senior provost, Dutile is the university's chief academic adviser. He replaces Dr. Michael Awad, who died in March 1999. He has served as associate dean of the Redford School of Theology and Church Vocations and has a doctor of philosophy degree in New Testament from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary-Fort Worth, Texas.
Mark Hunsaker has been hired as instructor at New Horizons. He was previously with Computer Renaissance in Lincoln, Neb. He has experience with Internet, Corel and Microsoft products.
Dawn Stumph has been hired as an instructor at New Horizons Computer Learning Center. She was previously employed by the Kansas City public schools.
Finance
Nichole A. Goddard has joined Commerce Bank as manager of its Republic Road branch. She is responsible for managing retail sales and customer service. She has nearly four years of experience in banking and financial services.
Travel
Terri McMinn, CTC, has joined the staff at House of Travel. She has been a travel consultant in the Springfield area since 1995. Her specialties include corporate travel and family vacation planning.
